Hunan geology and mine department

The former of Hunan geology and mine department is Hunan geology and mine bureau, and it is founded in April 1958. In 1994, the Hunan geology and mine bureau changed to Hunan geology and mine department under the approvement of provincial government. As the composition unit of the provincial government, it is in charge of the management of the mine resources, supervising the development of mine, management of geology environment protection and the management of geology exploration of the province. In Jan. 1995, former national geology and mine department approved to set Hunan geology and mine exploration bureau of geology and mine department, which is in charge of the approaching group of former Hunan geology and mine. The provincial geology and mine department and Hunan geology and mine exploration bureau carry on the system of two names with one group of leader, and the management of two functions and running separately. There are 32 approaching units of the Hunan geology and mine exploration bureau with 10600 staff. Among them, there are professional technology staff 3246 persons, and 1600 persons get high or middle level titles.
　　 After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the geology and mine exploration group find different kinds of mine of 141 kinds which take 83.83% of the whole kinds of mine (168kinds). There are 94 kinds of mine with clear volume of reserves, and it takes 61.43% of that of the nation. There are over 6000 mine spots in the province, and 1534 clear reserves, 92 large mineral deposit, 174 middle mineral deposit and 1268 small mineral deposit. The reserves of 11 mines are at he top of the country, such as wolfram, bismuth, normal fluorite,graphite, dolomite for glass, niobium and so on. There are 8 mines which output is at the second of the nation, such as bone coal, manganese, vanadium, antimony, rubidium, tellurium, barite, sandstone for glass, and so on. Reverses of in mines take the third place of the nation, such as cesium, lithium, niobium, niobium , tantalum, arsenic, diamond, mirabilite, mudstone for cement burden, and so on. On the fourth place, there are tin, zinc, titanium, rhenium, phosphorus, gypsum, and so on. Mercury, boron, and feldpar are at the fifth place. There are 41 mines that are in the first five places in the nation and 66 mines in the first ten. Some mines are at the important position of the world, such as wolfram, bismuth, antimony, vanadium, tin, manganese, graphite, barite. By 1997, the potential value for the clear reserves mine is 1,217,043,000,000 Yuan, and the potential value is 57,462,000,000 Yuan.
　　 The development of exploration promotes the development of mine. After reform, the development of mine industry is especially fast. It forms the industrial structure of exploding and processing with different characteristic. There are many systems with their own characteristics, such as big coal industry system of three mining bureau of Liangshao, Zixing, Baisha and coal mines of Tanba, Chenxi, Tanjiashan, Qunli, steel industry system with the main part of LianGang, Xianggang, Hengyang steel pipe factory and some small steel factory and Xiangdong iron mine, zinc and lead industry system of Huangshaping, shuikoushan, Taolin, and Baoshan zinc and lead mine and Zhuzhou metallurgy factory, antimony industry system whose main part is Xikuangshan mining bureau, Taojianbaxi antimony mine, and Yiyang metallurgy factory, wolfram industry system whose main part is Yaogangxian, Rucheng, Chuankou and Xiangdong wolfram mine, and Zhuzhou hard alloy factory, salt industry of Hengyang salt mine and Li county salt mine and the cement industry system whose main part is Xiangxiang cement factory, Xuefengshang, Dongjiang cement factory. There are 12417 different mine mountains in the province, and 475 of them are national owned, 11942 of them are belonged to the town or individuals. The output value of selecting the mine is 46,700,000,000 Yuan. The mining industry plays a basic and pillar role in the building of national economy. It must develop towards the combination of multi-level and multi-direction, set mining Group Company, form the series of mining product and set an active mining producing system.
