　　　The polytechnic school of Shaoyang is founded in 1958. In 1984, under the approvment of provincial health department and the educational department, it changed to Shaoyang health staff polytechnic school. In Jan 1998, it changed to Shaoyang staff polytechnic school under the document published by provincial educational department. The development of the building for the school is flourishing, the educational condition is perfecting, and the achievement is enlarging under the right leading of the provincial committee and the provincial government, under the support and care of all kinds of health, education, and administration department, and under the leadership of the leading group which is directed by Aiyaosheng who is senior teacher, headmaster and secretary of the Party. The school is not only existing in the hot competition, but also developing rapidly. It comes to the top of the advanced adult polytechnic school of the provincial.
　　　The school is located near the 207 national road of Taodukou of Shaoyang. It is within 30li to Shaoyang, and the transportation is convenient. The area of the school is 70mu, and the building area is 18500m?. The roads to all directions are wide and paperback; the surface of them are all made of cement. There are two sports squares with 3500m?, and it is flat and great. The 200m lunar race road is attracting. Two teaching and experimenting buildings and the student’s dormitory of 2800m? can meet the need of studying and accommodation for 800 students. The scale of the school is of 18 classes with over than 1200 persons. The existing fixed capital is 12400000 yuan. In it, the teaching fixed capital is 9100000 Yuan. There are 191 of staff with 64 teachers. The number of students is 780 persons with 12 classes. The rate for qualified students is 100%, and the rate for excellent is 85%. In the integrated exam of health staff polytechnic school of the province in 1991, the 69 examees who take part in the exam get good marks, and the average marks per person of three subjects is 93.06. The excellent rate is 100%. In the integrated exam of pharmacology for the major of nurse in the province in 1994, the school got the highest mark in the province. In the 19 students whose mark is over 90, there are 15 from this school. At the same time, the teaching study and reform activities are actively developed in the school. The teaching quality is improving.
　　 Through communication, exchanging information, academic discussion, speech and report, and having public lessons, the teachers’ academic level and the teaching quality is improving in many ways. After 1984, there are 12 essays published on the national periodical, and 53 on the provincial periodical. There is nearly 200 essays (times) published on the city level periodical or read in the academic meeting. At the same time, according to the need of the society and the direction and demand of the charging health department, it also opens traditional Chinese medicine department, Chinese herb department, pharmacy department, inspecting department, radiation department, and village doctor department. It holds the short-term class for surgical department, orthopedics department, radiology department, advanced inspection, electrocardiographic class and distance teaching for village doctors. In 1994, the school got the name of “Advanced unit for bi-civilization” from the government and the provincial committee. In 1995, the school got the name of “Advanced unit of adult polytechnic education” by educational department. There are 12 experience exchanging meeting held in school on spot.
