宋曼玲

  宋曼玲 广东人。美国华人图书馆学学会 2002-2003 会长。奥立岗大学图书馆系硕士。国立台湾大学外文系学士。

  曾任加州佛利蒙市图书馆馆长及馆务推广部主任。佛利蒙是旧金山湾区第四大城,属于阿拉米达县图书馆体系。任内以身作责,与各个有关部门主管及各类不同社区团体合作,争取经费,触进并达成对双方目标有益的项目。并领导鼓励员工与当地学校,商会,医院,媒体,文化艺术团体合作,使佛利蒙市图书馆成为当地的重要资讯及文化艺术中心。

  在佛利蒙市图书馆任职之前,曾任加州大学尔湾分校总图书馆教学及研究部的多元文化及馆务推广部负责人,计划及执行总图书馆与当地图书馆及学术机构馆际馆合作,资源共享事宜。

  她的第一个图书馆职务是圣地牙哥市图书馆儿童服务部专业馆员,后升职为图书馆分馆经理及行政主管。任内计划及发展图书馆服务项目,针对并加强对儿童,老人,少数民族,新移民及失学人士使用图书馆的便利。曾获1989年“圣地牙哥市最佳市民“奖。

  她曾多次在美国及国际图书馆学会发表专业报告。曾任第二届美国白宫图书馆学会议加州代表。第一届及第二届中美图书馆合作会议代表及翻译。美国图书馆学会教育委员会,及图书馆馆员培训委员会会员。加州图书馆学会理事,领导人才培训委员会,多元文化委员会,公共关系宣展委员会等主席及会员。加州大学图书馆员协会尔湾分校会长。

  工余她参加多项义工活动以争取保护华人权益,服务乡里。曾任国际扶轮社会员.加州桔县文史学会会长。美国扫除文盲基金会理事。圣地牙哥市杰出儿童教育会,老人服务会理事。佛利蒙市文史学会理事。加州华益社理事。多项环保机构会员。

  Angela Yang, former President of Chinese American Librarians Association, 1992-1993. She received her M.L.S. from University of Oregon, and B.A. (Foreign Language and Literature) from National Taiwan University.

  Angela was the Manager of Fremont Libraries, and Manager of Alameda County Library Extension Services from 2002 to 2009. Fremont is the 4th largest city in the San Francisco Bay area, and is part of the Alameda County Library System. During her tenure at Fremont, she worked with City and County officials, departments, and community organizations; enlisted the support of strategic partners to obtain key resources and assistance to support the achievement of mutual goals. She led and implemented many multicultural library programs with the collaboration of local school district and community organizations; and actively engaged the Chamber of Commerce, arts and cultural organizations, local print and non-print media to promote the library as a community information and cultural center.

  Prior to her arrival at Fremont, Angela spent eleven years as the first Outreach Services and Multicultural Services Librarian in the Research and Instructional Services Department at the University of California in Irvine. Where, in addition to providing research consultation, bibliographic instruction, and reference services, she planned and implemented UCI Library Outreach Services to Orange County community for resource sharing.

  Angela started her library career as a Children’s Librarian, was later promoted to be branch manager and library administrator at San Diego Public Library. She participated in the planning and implementation of new library programs and services to children, senior adults, ethnic minority community, and adult literacy program. She was presented with the ‘Finest Citizen of the Finest City” Award in 1989 by the City Club of San Diego for her contribution to the city.

  Active in many professional and volunteer associations, she presented papers on various topics at conferences. She was a member of ALA Committee on Education and Committee on Orientation, Training, and Leadership Development; Assembly member of California Library Association and members of many CLA committees; various professional development and regional resource sharing planning committees at both California State Library and University of California Librarians Association. She was a California delegate to the Second White House Conference on Library and Information Services, and a delegate and translator to both U.S.- China Library Conferences.

  Angela has been a member of International Rotary, Literacy Volunteers of America, Local Historical and Cultural Foundations, Gifted and Talented Education Association, etc. Her most favorite gig was the volunteer kayak tour guide in Upper Newport Bay.
